Chef Sara Khumsuk's culinary journey began in the bustling street markets of Bangkok, where she learned that great food is about more than recipes—it's about heart, tradition, and bringing people together.
When Sara first visited Kauai in the early 2000s, she fell in love with the island's spirit of aloha and saw an opportunity to share her heritage with a new community. In 2003, she opened Koloa Thai Bistro in the charming streets of Old Koloa Town, and it's been a beloved gathering place for locals and tourists ever since.

For over two decades, Koloa Thai Bistro has been the go-to destination for authentic Thai food on Kauai's sunny South Shore. Our location in historic Old Koloa Town—one of Hawaii's oldest plantation towns—gives guests a taste of both Thai culture and Kauai history.
What started as a small Thai restaurant has grown into a full dining experience featuring our popular hibachi grill entertainment, fresh sushi bar, and of course, Chef Sara's beloved Thai classics. Generations of Kauai families have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and everyday moments at our tables.
